Welcome Back, W.R. Best Families!

We hope you have been enjoying a wonderful summer filled with fun, relaxation, and special family moments. Our staff is thrilled to be part of the W.R. Best French Immersion community, and we are eagerly looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school on September 8th.

Whether you are returning to W.R. Best or joining us for the first time, we can't wait to see familiar faces, meet new students and families, and begin another amazing year of learning together. We know this is going to be a fun, exciting, and successful year!

We are very excited to welcome our new Vice-Principal, Rachelle Therrien, to the Bobcat family. Mme Therrien comes to us with a great deal of experience and a great sense of humour! Please be sure to say “bonjour” when you see her.

First Day Procedures

To help make the first morning run smoothly, after the first bell rings at 9:20 a.m., all returning students will go to last year's classroom, where a staff member will let them know their location for this year – please note that there is often a class ‘shuffle’ due to summer moves, and class lists may not be finalized until turn-around day on September 29.

Students should enter through the same doors they used last year for their first arrival.

Our brand-new Grade 1 students will report directly to Room 100. Don't worry, we will have plenty of staff members available to help our newest Bobcats find their way and feel comfortable on their first day!

Daily Schedule & Attendance

We appreciate your support in helping students arrive at school on time each day. Every minute of learning counts, and a strong start to the day helps set students up for success.

If your child arrives late, they must sign in at the office before heading to class. I

f your child needs to leave before the end of the school day, please sign them out through the office.

To help ensure a safe and organized dismissal, any changes to your child's end-of-day routine must be communicated before 2:45 p.m., as we are unable to accommodate dismissal requests after that time.

Student & Classroom Materials

We will provide most academic materials throughout the school year. Families may wish to send the following items with their child:

● Pencil crayons

● HB pencils and pens (Grades 4-8)

● Calculator

● 2 Sharpies

● Scent-free whiteboard markers

● Reusable water bottle

● Plug-in headphones

● Bamboo forks and spoons

● A box of Kleenex for the classroom

Teachers will let families know if any additional supplies are needed. Please do not send extra-large binders unless specifically requested by your child's teacher.

We also kindly ask that all personal belongings be clearly labeled, including lunch bags, backpacks, water bottles, and clothing.

Looking Ahead

More information about the upcoming school year will be shared soon, including details about hot lunches, spirit wear, and school events.

As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, we will continue our recycling and waste-reduction efforts. Families may notice some "boomerang lunch" days, where uneaten food and packaging come back home so students can help monitor and reduce waste.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We can't wait to welcome everyone back and begin another fantastic year together!

See you on September 8th!

Warmly, The W.R. Best Staff Team
